Day 29, to Uüreg nuur  88km , 2289km to date,  1370m up, 1479m end

We had some entertainment last night - two local performers, the young man playing the Mongolian two stringed instrument called the Morin Khuur  (the strings are horse tail) and the young lady danced.  The local cycling group also sang the Mongolian national anthem, very good- see/hear the two clips (not sure if they will work...):

It is not uncommon in Ulaangom to have a horse ride down a sidewalk.  Also, whilst just getting to sleep last night, there was the clop clop of a horse going past my window.

The local Ulaangom cycling club accompanied us out of town, with a bit of a ceremony at the city gate (10km out of town).  We all got to drink a toast of Airag - fermented Mare’s milk.

Pic of Airag drinking:

I liked these two pics of the fence with the Mongolian symbol and the shadow of a cyclist:

Almost always people appear at our lunch, even when in the middle of nowhere:

More camels:

A view of Uüreg nuur - where we camped:

There has been a route change - the planned route for tomorrow involved a river crossing - note, river not stream.  Turns out it is running too high, it was considered too unsafe to get cyclists across, also too deep for the trucks.  I’ve just heard a new route has been scouted - also involves a river crossing, but this one is considered doable - we’ll see…
