Day 64 to Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan, 114km, 5677 to date.  1570m up, 824m end

We started the day with a 1,000m climb on gravel that was reasonably smooth, then a very rough very long descent and more very rough roads to lunch - I was as slow going down the climb as up, so an average speed of under 10km/hr!

This was the Kaldamo Pass at 2965m.  At the top I had stopped for some snacks, as I have become used to, I am the tourist attraction, this car stopped with very friendly “conversation” and the requisite pictures.  Also as is very common food is offered, in this case some flatbread.

There was a tiger on both sides of the road,  don't know why these are here:

Tonight we stayed at a homestay, essentially a bed, dinner and breakfast.  This area is very hot during the summer and cold during the winter, hence they have two kitchens, one outside and one inside.  As you see in the picture, the yard is surrounded by high walls (sun protection) with the centre covered in a grape trellis.
